Researchers at USC’s Center for Artificial Intelligence in Society have long been applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to protect wildlife. Now, with the help of sophisticated training data, they have applied a breakthrough technology that will make a difference.
Initially, computer scientists were using AI and game theory to anticipate the poachers' hunts. The use of applied artificial intelligence and deep learning results in poachers being spotted in near real-time. Now, infrared cameras can distinguish between poachers and animals, since both give off heat.
