In this episode Melody chats with Luis Serrano, accomplished Machine Learning Engineer, educator, and author about his new book Grokking Machine Learning.

Luis’ mission is to make information about artificial intelligence and machine learning available to every person in the world. In his new book, Grokking Machine Learning, Luis distills the essential information of machine learning and guides readers toward an intuitive understanding of the field. He believes that behind all of the formulas, there is a soul: one that represents a deeper kind of knowledge accessible to anyone with curiosity. About Luis Serrano:

As a high school student in Colombia, Luis participated in the 1998 and 99 International Mathematical Olympiads. He then pursued a Bachelor's and Master's at the University of Waterloo, a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Michigan, and his Postdoc at the University of Québec in Montréal. He started his career as a research mathematician but then transitioned into a Machine Learning Engineer at Google, in the YouTube video recommendations team. Luis’ passion for education led him to join Udacity as the Head of Content for Artificial Intelligence where he created curricula on machine learning, deep learning and much more! Most recently, Luis worked at Apple as a lead AI educator.
